Fenabook brings two rewarding acts together: finding a book you want and contributing to local communities.
Whether new or pre-owned, a book can find a reader and help support others. At Fenabook, donated books are discovered, passed along and turned into funds for local charities. You get the pleasure of browsing unexpected shelves and taking home your next read. You can also sponsor a bundle of new books and requested supplies for a local organization.

Fenabook is a community initiative created by Nadia Aldea. It began with two things that feel natural to her: being surrounded by books and helping others.
Having experienced hardship and times when she lacked the support she needed, Nadia began volunteering as a teenager. Over the years, she has contributed to children and youth services, animal shelters, community programs and family support organizations.
Helping others gave her a way to turn difficult experiences into something useful.
She wanted to create a project that made giving feel tangible and participation simple: something built from ordinary actions, repeated by many people, that could grow into meaningful support for the community.
That idea became Fenabook.
-
Fenabook’s opening collection was personally selected and purchased by founder Nadia through local book hunts and travels abroad, including titles and editions that may be difficult to find in Canada. Nadia has contributed these books to help launch Fenabook, without recovering their purchase costs. The collection will grow through donations from readers, authors and publishers.
Every book is individually considered—from the physical copy to the story inside. Fenabook looks for distinctive voices, unforgettable characters, enduring classics and international discoveries. Reader reviews help guide the selection, with particular attention to highly rated and sought-after titles.
Both new and pre-owned books are welcome. Not every donated book joins the collection. Those that do are selected with care to make browsing as rewarding as finding your next read.
A book’s previous life can be part of its appeal. Gentle wear, inscriptions and the occasional postcard or handwritten note tucked between the pages add another story to the one already inside. These little discoveries stay with the book, with anything included shown or described in the listing.

Reading is only part of loving books. There’s the pleasure of browsing titles, stopping at a cover that catches your eye, reading the synopsis on the back or peeking inside a cover flap for a glimpse of the story. A few lines are enough to make you curious. Before long, you’ve found something unexpected—and added another book to an already ambitious reading pile.
Then there is what books hold: escape, understanding, new perspectives, knowledge and possibility. Some are waiting for their first reader; others are ready to be discovered again.
Fenabook brings that love of books together with their potential to help others. A book can go from one person’s shelf into someone else’s hands—and help support a community along the way.
-
Fena combines Felipe and Nadia—the names of founder Nadia and her husband.
Fenabook was created with the hope that it would become something her family could participate in together. It reflects the values she wants to share with her children: generosity, responsibility and care for the community around them.

Raccoons are curious, undeniably cute and resourceful collectors with a talent for finding value in things others might overlook. That spirit naturally fits a project built around giving books another life and helping their value travel further.
The Fenabook raccoon is a quiet collector, a curious helper and a champion of stories looking for new homes. Useful, quietly mischievous and usually somewhere near the books, he carries, explores, organizes—and occasionally disappears behind an ambitious stack.

Your books are welcome here. Fenabook invites authors near and far, independently and traditionally published, to donate copies of their work and become part of a project connecting books, readers and community giving.
An author’s contribution brings something special to the shelves: a book shared by the person who wrote it. Whether you contribute one copy or several, your work can reach new readers while helping raise funds for local charities.
We’d love to hear about your book and the story behind it.
IMPACT
-
Cover a Cost contributions help pay for Fenabook’s practical operating expenses, including packaging materials, website fees, payment processing and Sponsored Book Bundle delivery. Funding these costs separately allows more of the proceeds from book sales to reach our charitable partner.
-
A book price top-up is an optional amount you can add to your purchase if you’d like to give a little extra. You receive the same book, and the additional amount helps raise more for Fenabook’s charitable beneficiary.
Top-ups are separate from shipping charges and do not include an additional item. As with book sales, 100% of net proceeds go to charity.
-
Each Sponsored Book Bundle creates impact in two places.
60% of your purchase is used to buy new books and specifically requested items for the organization you select. New items are important because these bundles respond to each recipient’s current needs and, in settings such as BC Children’s Hospital, donated books and supplies must be new.
The remaining 40% supports Fenabook’s main charitable partner.
The four recipient organizations were thoughtfully chosen to direct support toward women and children, mental health and literacy. You choose which organization receives your bundle.
-
After direct operating costs are covered, 100% of net proceeds from book sales are donated to Fenabook’s selected charitable partner.
-
Shipping is charged separately at checkout. Fenabook will work to keep delivery costs as low as possible and, when funds allow, help offset a portion of the cost. Keeping shipping separate from book prices allows more of each purchase to become charitable proceeds.
-
Net proceeds are the funds remaining after Fenabook’s direct operating costs, such as packaging, website fees and payment processing. 100% of that remaining amount goes to local charities.
-
Fenabook looks for a trusted local organization whose work responds to a clear community need. The goal is to build a sustained partnership for approximately one to two years.
-
Net proceeds will be reconciled and transferred to the charitable partner annually, according to a schedule agreed upon with the organization.
Following each transfer, Fenabook will publish an Impact Report showing the amount raised, applicable expenses, net proceeds and amount donated.
-
Books may be included in curated bulk box sales offered through community events, or may be donated where there is an identified need or responsibly recycled when unsuitable.
Books will never be sent to an organization simply because they are unwanted inventory.
-
This page will grow with Fenabook. Once operations begin, we’ll share current figures, charitable partner details, fund transfers and annual Impact Reports here.
